I hope you are all well. The weather is warming up here in Sydney and we are now less than two months away from the 4th International Encounter of Capoeira Angola in Sydney with Mestres Jogo de Dentro and Augusto Januario.

 

Past guests have included Mestre Virgilio, the master and father of Mestre Roxinho; Mestre Plinio, a knowledgeable capoeirista, masterful berimbau player and great singer and Mestre Moraes who is a central figure in the world of Capoeira Angola.

Past encounters have always brought great energy and once-in-a-lifetime learning experiences. There have been excellent and challenging movement and music classes balanced with lessons in culture history & philosophy. There has also been time for some Samba, African dance and Caxixi making classes and also quieter time to have a discussion as a group the topics and issues around Capoeira Angola.

 

The billeting of travelling capoeiristas to Ecamar student’s houses during their stay for the Encounter in Sydney has also produced some solid and enduring friendships and more connections between Capoeira Angola communities in Australasia.

These connections can only grow stronger as we spend another 5 days together sharing our knowledge and energy.

 

The encounter will be held at our Cultural Centre in Surry Hills which is a convenient 5 minute walk from Central train station. If you book now you can stay free of charge with one of our students (let us know if you do need an accommodation).

 

The prices for this event are:

$380 for non-members

 

As you know, the visa and plane ticket of Mestre Jogo de Dentro have been secured and we are getting ready to welcome him in Sydney. So if you haven’t booked the event, this is the time to do it since we are still looking for more participants to cover all the expenses of the Mestres’ trip and stay in Australia.
